We’re introducing a new course at Copenhagen Music Academy focused on teaching songwriting with children and young people aged approximately 12–19 years.
Songwriting with Children and Young People is designed for teachers and educators who want practical tools for facilitating creative songwriting processes with groups of children and adolescents.
The course is right for you if you:
- work with children and young people aged roughly 12–19
- want concrete methods for leading collaborative songwriting processes
- are interested in creative music-making beyond performance and theory
- want a structured but flexible approach that works across age groups
- would like tools you can apply directly in your own teaching
The course is based on a proven, practice-led method developed through many years of teaching, including eight years as a travelling instructor in the KODA School Contact programme.
The format combines method introduction, observation and hands-on practice with an actual group of children or young people. Teaching focuses on process, participation and keeping the students’ own ideas at the centre of the creative work.
